CHAPTER TWO

Vampire Crypt

Following the evidence you've collected at Caneen, your King now suspects that A.C., a member of the royal court, has betrayed the crown. He is somehow tied to Castle Sartonia, a family estate thought to be abandoned years ago. Now your King suspects a vampire count is brooding there.

This abomination cannot be allowed to live! You are to bring the fury of the crown down on Count Salzdrake of Sartonia and execute him using any means necessary.

Your team of Kingsblades approaches the castle, taking caution to avoid the unliving Gargoyle statues guarding the grounds. The castle is most certainly not abandoned.

As you step inside, a strange aura surrounds your team. You feel as if you don’t have much time before succumbing to the madness haunting these halls. A powerful wizard must reside here.

A Crypt of No Return

Beneath a false floor in the basement, you find the Salzdrake Family Crypt and bravely descend.

You discover evidence of previous Kingsblades who met their unfortunate end here. Can you hope to succeed where they failed?

Within the crypt, you uncover the lord’s inner sanctum—and a chance to strike while time remains.

Don't let the King down: slay the vampire once and for all!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How many players at a time?

Vampire Crypt can host between 1-6 players at a time.

We've had 8 players in this room before, but the space and the number of puzzles are limited. The rooms are around the size of an office, plus furniture, props, and decor! If you'd like to book for 7 or 8, you can book for 6, leave a booking note about your additional player(s), and we will add them to your booking at your reservation.

What's the minimum number of players?

The minimum number of players is technically 1. There are puzzles in this room requiring players to be in two or more spots at one time. While it would be a challenge to do by oneself, it is entirely possible with the help of a Game Master at critical parts.

What's the maximum number of player?

The maximum number of players is 6. Space concerns aside, this game was made to be approached by up to 6 players at a time.

What's the recommended number of players?

Based on the number of puzzles in the room and the general challenge, groups of 3-5 have the best ratio of number of puzzles to difficulty.

Groups of 2 can beat the game under time if they have good reading comprehension and communication. Groups of 6 or more regularly get out under well under time.

How is this a spiritual successor to King's Keep?

After we created Caves of Caneen it was clear we would need to create a brand new experience, rather than treading water in a slightly new way.

This game concept originated from an adaption from King's Keep, our highly rated medieval fantasy escape room from our previous location. Originally we wanted to remake KK and have it mostly be the same game to have a quick turnaround so we can make other projects.

Having it be a completely new game allows for new and returning players to enjoy the same experience, and allow us to focus our time and resources on making this game the best it can be.

What carried over from King's Keep?

  1. The set reuses the same stone brick dressing as from King's Keep, except it has been updated to be more dramatic and gothic.
  2. Some of the caskets from King's Keep make a return, except they are interacted with in new ways.
  3. The final door is now used midway through the game, and is mostly used the same way as before except with a new set of objects to place.

Are there special game mechanics?

Not yet. Soon the following will be implemented in the game.

This game uses our storytelling mechanics: the storyblock.

This is a completely optional mechanic that skilled players may wish to solve to fully understand the story behind the escape room. It's not necessary to complete the game, but it offers the complete picture of the story to players.

Throughout the game you will uncover Lore Notes, which resemeble 1" x 2" word blocks. These magnetized blocks fit into spots on the storyblock, and if completed correctly, tells the entire tale of the room.

If players can complete the story block correctly they can complete the case, and bring all the evidence collected to the King and bring justice to what happened in Sartonia.

If players want to truly 100% complete this game, they will need to solve this in one attempt!

How does the Storyblock work?

There are 20 wordblocks you will uncover throughout the room. Each block has a unique phrase on it, and fits on a specific spot on the Storyblock. If you complete it correctly you solve the case!

Teams running out of time may wish to skip this mechanic, otherwise teams that feel confident with their time management skills may want to work on it throughout the escape game experience.

How many puzzles are there?

There are a total of 16 puzzles and steps.

King's Keep originally had 13.
